The Challange
Despite their dominance in publishing logistics, Ingram had no direct integration with Shopify, the leading e-commerce platform in North America. This gap created friction for publishers and retailers who wanted to sell millions of titles online. Legacy contracts, currencies, and compliance slowed international growth.
To expand globally, Ingram needed a scalable way to enable their clients to sell books through Shopify without bureaucratic roadblocks.
Our Approach
Emersoft identified the opportunity early and built the Ingram Shopify App - the first and only solution connecting Ingram’s catalog to Shopify. The app automates Customer Direct Fulfilment (CDF Lite), syncs metadata for 20M+ titles, and handles order workflows natively in Shopify. Ingram’s technical team vetted and approved the app, and our collaboration deepened as they saw it fueling their international expansion.
At Ingram’s request, we expanded the platform with multicurrency support and international shipping features. Over two years, we became their trusted development partner, meeting directly with C-Suite executives at HQ in Nashville. Today, Ingram’s sales team actively refers clients to our app as the go-to solution for international publishers.
The Outcome
The Ingram Shopify App has become a strategic pillar of Ingram’s international growth. By bypassing traditional contract hurdles around jurisdictions, taxes, and foreign currencies, the app unlocked faster onboarding for global clients.
